12 Monkeys TV News

You can’t help but have notice the current trend in TV: take one cult film and turn it into a series, retro-fitting it for the small screen revolution. In some cases the results have been rather spectacular, HANNIBAL, in particular, being a prime example, others less so. It’s perhaps inevitable, then, that the emotionally charged, philosophical and tragic sci-fi love story 12 MONKEYS has been given a green light for a series.

In 2013 Syfy commissioned a 90 minute pilot adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s masterful film starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. The channel has just announced a 12 episode run, evidently the pilot dazzled.

The series will star Amanda Schull from SUITS, Kirk Acevedo of FRINGE fame and NIKITA regulars Aaron Stanford and Noah Bean.

Just like storytelling, narratives pass from generation to generation, being processed through different mediums, gaining a little, losing a little. Let’s hope Syfy are on to a winner with this one.

Atlas Entertainment, the production team behind the film, will also produce the series.

12 MONKEYS is set for a 2015 release.
