Fans of True Detective, get ready to be excited. Yes, it looks as if a third season of the much-loved show may well be happening.

As per Entertainment Weekly, Nic Pizzolatto has written at least two episodes of a new season. Pizzolatto just so happens to be the man who wrote the previous two seasons. Additionally, Deadwood’s Emmy-winning David Milch has been brought in to work alongside Pizzolatto.

Officially, HBO has yet to greenlight a third season of True Detective, but it looks as if things are starting to come together regardless.

Starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, True Detective premiered back in early 2014, instantly winning a whole lot of praise from fans and critics alike. For the second season, Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn headlined, although that Season 2 didn’t hit the heights of the first season both in terms of quality and ratings – hence why HBO didn’t initially okay a third season for the show.

As ever, expect more on this as and when it develops.
