Original ‘70s cult classic The Town That Dreaded Sundown is heading to Dual Format Blu-ray/DVD in August from Eureka Entertainment.

The 1976 film, directed by Charles B. Pierce and based on a true story, inspired the recent remake/sequel, but the original is much more shocking and entertaining.

Starring Ben Johnson, Andrew Pine and Dawn Wells, it was a hit when first released (in a double bill with post-Vietnam shocker Rolling Thunder) and will be presented uncut by Eureka on August 24th.

Synopsis:

Two young lovers are savagely beaten and tortured on a back country road, three weeks later, two more people are killed in a similar way. When Deputy Norman Ramsey fears a pattern is developing he calls upon the help of Texas Ranger J.D. Morales (Academy Award Winner Ben Johnson from The Wild Bunch) to find “The Phantom Killer” before he can kill again.
