With Alicia Vikander now in place to headline, the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has been given a confirmed release date.

Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM have revealed that Vikander’s Lara Croft will make her big screen bow on March 16th, 2018. At the moment, there aren’t any other films booked in for that release date, although there were previous reports that the Ezra Miller-starring The Flash may speed to cinemas on that date. That film is also being put out by Warner Brothers, meaning that Tomb Raider has now nabbed the Scarlet Speedster’s spot.

Fans of the property have previously seen two outings from Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Cradle of Life. Of course, Tomb Raider originated as a video game first published back in 1996. The most recent game, 2013’s Rise of the Tomb Raider, has sold over 5 million copies, which shows that there’s still plenty of affection for the iconic Croft.

The Wave’s Roar Uthaug is on board to direct this latest big screen Tomb Raider effort.
