After impressing many with her turn as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Daisy Ridley is now being considered to play Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot.

Deadline is reporting that Warner Brothers and MGM are drawing up a list of candidates to play Croft, with Ridley believed to be at the very top of said list. Ridley hasn’t had any talks about the gig just yet, but it could well be that she ends up taking on the role played by Angelina Jolie in 2001’s Tomb Raider and 2003’s Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

A relaunch-cum-redo of the cinematic Tomb Raider franchise has been in development for a fair few years now, and it looks as if the project is finally looking to move forward. The Wave’s Roar Uthaug is already on board to direct, with a screenplay in place from Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
