With the big adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower due to start shooting in just a matter of weeks, the film has added Tom Taylor to its ranks.

The youngster is best known for BBC’s Doctor Foster, and Variety reports that he’ll be playing Jake Chambers in Nikolaj Arcel’s movie. Jake is one of the key characters of the tale, with the first film (because The Dark Tower is planned as a multi-movie franchise at present) explaining how he ends up as the protégé of Idris Elba’s Gunslinger. Also on board is Matthew McConaughey, who’ll be playing the villainous Man in Black, plus Abbey Lee will playing the female lead, Tirana.

The basic premise of King’s The Dark Tower, which encompasses eight novels and even ties-in with other books, follows The Gunslinger on his quest towards a mysterious tower in a world gone to hell. As well as a big screen movie, there’s also a tie-in TV series in development as well.

At present, The Dark Tower is set for a January 13th, 2017 release. The film will start shooting in South Africa in around 5 weeks time.
