With Mission: Impossible 6 due to start shooting in January, the film has run in to some new trouble.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that the follow-up to Rogue Nation has seen pre-production shut down due to a dispute over Tom Cruise’s salary. The star of the franchise is currently butting heads with Paramount Pictures over what’s being described as “back-end profit participation”, and Cruise is also keen for the studio to match or top what he’s being paid by Universal Pictures for headlining their upcoming new take on The Mummy.

This isn’t the first issue that this next Mission: Impossible movie has had, with last month seeing script problems surfacing. That saw the production start date pushed back from November to January of next year.

Despite the problems with Cruise’s salary, it’s expected that the current issues will be ironed out soon enough and that the film, which will again be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, will be released in late 2017.
