With Thor: Ragnarok now confirmed (well, from Mark Ruffalo at least) to be featuring The Hulk, now comes some word on the villain of the piece.

Coming from Birth.Movies.Death and Lainey Gossip, the latest news is that Marvel Studios is looking at having some strong female characters in Ragnarok, with one of those roles looking likely to be the villain of the piece. Not only that, but Cate Blanchett’s name is believed to be in the frame for one of these parts.

The report from Lainey Gossip goes on to say, “If Valkyrie is really coming to the big screen, that will make two high-profile female roles being cast in Ragnarok, because I have heard that Marvel is also planning on bringing their first major female villain into their cinematic universe.”

A female villain who has a place in the Thor world and who ties to Ragnarok itself? To many that would certainly suggest Hela, the Norse goddess of Death and somebody who takes residence in the Norse depiction of Hell. Another suggestion is that the female villain could possibly be Amora the Enchantress, one of the most powerful magic-based beings in Asgard.

Treat this all as rumour for now, but, as ever, expect more on this as and when it develops.

At present, Thor: Ragnarok is set for a November 3rd, 2017 release.
