With only one more Marvel Studios’ movie on the way before the year is out, eyes are now looking ahead at what lies waiting in 2017. One such project is Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok.

What we’ve got today is confirmation that shooting on this next outing for Chris Hemsworth’s Thunder God has begun. Filming began on Monday, July 4th over in Australia. The current plan is for shooting to run until October, although it could even veer into early next year.

In this epic outing for Thor, the Son of Odin will have to battle the combined forces of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Cate Blanchett’s Hela, the Goddess of Death and ruler of Asgard’s take on Hell. He’ll be joined in arms by Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, who’ll be found on a mysterious gladiatorial planet as the film draws certain elements of inspiration from the famed Planet Hulk comic arc.

Thor: Ragnarok is currently set for a November 3rd, 2017 release. Before the God of Thunder returns, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has Doctor Strange set for this November 4th, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set for May 5th, 2017 and Spider-Man: Homecoming set for July 7th, 2017.
