As the Thunder God gets set for his third solo movie, Thor: Ragnarok has brought in a new addition… although there’s also news that a familiar face will not be returning.

First up, on the new addition front, Deadline is reporting that Creed’s Tessa Thompson is joining the film. As well as playing a female hero in the movie, Thompson’s character will also be a love interest for the Son of Odin. No specifics are known on exactly who the role is, although speculation suggests Valkyrie or possibly even the oft-good, oft-bad Amora the Enchantress.

Wait! But isn’t Thor already totally, totally smitten with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster? Well, yes he is, but that’s where we come to the second part of this story. In case you hadn’t guessed it, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Portman will not be returning for Ragnarok.

As for what we know about the film so far, Chris Hemsworth is obviously back as the God of Thunder, and he’s joined by the returning Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, and Jamie Alexander as Sif, not mention getting some help from Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. In what could be a great move, Cate Blanchett is also on board to play the villain of the piece, believed to be Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death.

To be directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok is currently set for a November 3rd, 2017 release.
