Kids, get your popcorn out, 'cause the new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has debuted – and granted fans a long-awaited and deliciously creepy first look at Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher (a badass street name).
In this fourth solo Thor film starring Chris Hemsworth, the God of Thunder is joined by Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, who assumes the mantle of Mighty Thor. Also returning are Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and actors from the Guardians of the Galaxy films, including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and Dave Bautista as Drax. Love and Thunder also welcomes two new A-listers, Bale and Russell Crowe as Zeus.
Taika Waititi returns to the director's chair after helming the excellent Thor: Ragnarok in 2017. Waititi also writes the script from a story he collaborated on with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. As per the official synopsis, Love and Thunder sees Thor's retirement from superherodom interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks nothing less than the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg (Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor's surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance and stop him before it's too late.
