Remember that story earlier this year that a new series of The Tick was on its way? Well it’s now been confirmed just when we can expect the series to debut on Amazon.

The pilot episode of this new take on an old favourite of many, which is simply titled The Tick, will debut on April 19th in the US, UK, Germany, Austria and Japan. As the titular Tick, the ever-charismatic Peter Serafinowicz will headline the show, with him being joined by the likes of Watchmen’s Jackie Earle Haley, Vinyl’s Griffin Newman, Jane the Virgin’s Yara Martinez, House of Lies’ Valorie Curry and Scorpion’s Brendan Hines.

The blurb on The Tick reads: In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, an underdog accountant with zero powers comes to realise his city is owned by a global supervillain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero.

Supernatural’s Ben Edlund, Bones’ Barry Josephson and A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Barry Sonnefeld will executive produce this new series, with Wally Pfister to direct from a screenplay by the aforementioned Edlund.
