With the pilot for Amazon’s new take on The Tick impressing many genre fans, the streaming service has now moved to confirm the full series for an August 25th premiere.

As the titular hero is fan favourite Peter Serafinowicz, and he’s joined by the likes of Griffin Newman, Volorie Curry, Yara Martinez, Brendan Hines, and Jackie Earle Haley.

The current blurb on the series reads:

In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, the new The Tick series follows an underdog accountant with zero powers who comes to realize his city is owned by a global supervillain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue hero.

The Tick himself was created by Ben Edlund back in 1986 as the mascot for New England Comics. The character was then given his own comic book tales in 1988, with a 1994 animated series to follow before Patrick Warburton starred as the character in a 2001 live-action TV series.

For this new incarnation of The Tick, creator Edlund and former Tick Warburton will executive produce alongside Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld.
