After having been loosely referred to as simply Wolverine 3 for the past year or so, the third solo movie for Hugh Jackman’s Wolvie has finally been given an official title: Logan.

Jackman himself confirmed the news today, taking to his social media accounts to post an image of a billboard featuring an early poster for the film. Complete with the Logan title is Jackman’s hand holding the hand of a child.

Elsewhere, director James Mangold has also taken to his social media accounts to post an actual page from the script – which certainly backs up the reports that the film will be R-rated. Included in this brief tease is an F-bomb and Wolverine being attacked with a drill.

Logan
will be Hugh Jackman’s final adventure as the famed Canucklehead, bringing his time as the character in at an impressive (and unmatched) nine outings.

In the upcoming movie, large elements of the plot will mirror the fan favourite Old Man Logan comic book arc. Additionally, young female Wolverine clone X-23 will have a key role to play, and it could well be that character who is the one holding Logan’s hand in the above poster.

We also know that the nefarious Mister Sinister – who was teased in the X-Men: Apocalypse post-credits sting – will finally make his live-action, big screen debut in the film, although it’s currently unknown just who will be playing the crazed scientific genius with a penchant for cloning and evolution. With Richard E. Grant already confirmed to be playing a crazy scientist of sorts in the film, it could well be that he’ll end up playing Mister Sinister when the movie is released next year.

Joining Jackman and Grant in the film are Boyd Holbrook as a TBC bad guy, Patrick Stewart as the returning Professor Xavier, and then unknown roles for Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elisa Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez.

At present, Logan is set for a March 3rd, 2017 release.
