While Guillermo del Toro’s ambitious vampire show THE STRAIN has yet to air in the UK, it’s halfway through its first series in America, and has taken horror fans by the throat. It’s certainly fared better than other genre shows this year, having been picked up for a second series.

Based on the novel co-written by del Toro alongside Chuck Hogan, THE STRAIN is about the outbreak of a vampiric virus in New York. Del Toro has expressed his excitement, stating, ‘I am thrilled! Another season to spread the virus! Working with Carlton, Chuck and FX has been immensely rewarding and we have such sights to unveil in the upcoming episodes — the blood hits the fan on this one, mankind becomes an endangered species.’

THE STRAIN is set to air on Watch on September 17th at 10pm.
