Following Tim Miller’s recent departure from Deadpool 2, speculation and suggestion has been rife on just who should replace Miller when it comes to directing the next outing for Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth. One such suggestion from many – and certainly our pick – is the Soska Sisters, Jen and Sylvia, and now Sylvia has been discussing how’d the Twisted Twins would be super keen to tackle Reynolds’ Wade Wilson should the chance arise.

Speaking to Philly.com, Sylvia explained that the Soskas will soon be submitting their “film, TV and comic work to Fox and to Ryan Reynolds’ company as well. I think they are looking at a lot of options, but we certainly have made a big commotion from our camp,” before adding, “understandably, this has become one of the biggest directing jobs in the world. There’s a lot of importance in this film because they are launching X-Force from it, while staying true to the original film and character that spawned so much intense love across the globe.”

Sylvia went on to describe the Deadpool sequel as a “dream project” before explaining, “Jen and I have been hardcore Deadpool fans for years. We wanted to direct the first film, but couldn’t get a meeting to save our lives. We read the script and wanted so badly to be a part of it. It didn’t happen. Even though they shot in our hometown with a lot of our crew.”

Again showing how passionate she and sister Jen are about the Deadpool character, Sylvia said, “The truth is, it’s the biggest movie in the world. Will they seriously let the directors from Dead Hooker in a Trunk ? I sure hope so. Even if this isn’t an opportunity for us, I have no problem working to prove ourselves. Marvel is a big part of the people we grew up to be. We learned a lot of lessons being weird girls reading those books. Deadpool hit home for many people and I feel very lucky to exist in a world where we get live-action films like this.”

As well as being avid comic book fans, this wouldn’t be the first time that the Twisted Twins have had dealings with the Marvel world, for they penned a Night Nurse tale for Marvel’s Secret Wars Journal #5 and memorably penned a Guardians of the Galaxy outing earlier this year with Guardians of Infinity #8. Elsewhere, they also worked on Kill-Crazy Nymphos Attack! with long longtime Deadpool writer Daniel Way. Where Jen and Sylvia’s movie career is concerned, they’ve made a huge mark in the horror genre over recent years with the likes of the aforementioned Dead Hooker in a Trunk, the mesmerising American Mary, the carnage and chaos-filled See No Evil 2, and a Tristan Risk-starring segment in The ABCs of Death 2 before switching their attention to a more aggressive, action-heavy effort with Vendetta, starring Dean Cain and the WWE’s Big Show. Following the scare-tastic gameshow Hellevator (which we’ve still criminally yet to get in the UK!), the Soskas are attached to a redo of David Cronenberg’s 1977 Rabid.

Whether the Soska Sisters end up helming the Deadpool sequel, we’ll have to wait and see. The girls would certainly bring a genuine understanding of what makes the Marc with a Mouth so special, and their clear passion for the character is infectious.

Since Tim Miller left Deadpool 2 over the ever-familiar creative differences last week, the rumoured frontrunner for the gig is John Wick’s David Leitch, with Cabin in the Woods’ Drew Goddard and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Magnus Martens also linked to the movie.

Deadpool proved to be one of the best movies of 2016 to date, with the film managing to prove that not all superhero movies have to have whopping budgets – *cough* Batman v Superman *cough* – as it took home a whopping $782 million from just a $58 million budget.

On the Deadpool 2 front, star Ryan Reynolds and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will be back, and there’ll be confirmed new faces in the form of comic book fan favourites Cable and Domino, both of who are yet to be cast. Production on the film has been planned to start early next year, although there could well be some delays depending on how quickly 20th Century Fox can find a new director – if you ask us, though, that hunt for a new director shouldn’t be a long one, and it would result in the film having directors as oppose to a director. Yep, you guessed it, just give Jen and Sylvia Soska the job already.
