With a third PURGE movie recently confirmed for a July 1st, 2016 release and to be directed by James DeMonaco, now comes some brief details on when the film will take place.

Initially, it was believed that the film would be a prequel of sorts, showing how the actual annual Purge event came to be put in place. Speaking to Collider, producer Brad Fuller said, “The material we’re considering now is not the night of the first Purge.”

Instead, it seems as if THE PURGE 3 will focus on Frank Grillo’s character from THE PURGE: ANARCHY. When asked about a return for Grillo, Fuller added, “We loved working with him and we thought he was so good in that role. If it work to have him back we would be really excited about that.”

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
