Searchlight’s black comedy-horror The Menu has released an official trailer, showcasing an all-star cast embarking on a meal they won’t soon forget.

The trailer opens with young couple Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) travelling to a remote island to eat at Hawthorne, a very exclusive restaurant – we’re talking twelve guests only – run by celebrity chef Slowik (Ralph Fiennes). Slowik has prepared a lavish molecular gastronomy menu where food is conceptual art (“He’s not just a chef. He’s a storyteller,” Tyler tells Margot), but his approach to cooking may take his wealthy guests by surprise.

“The game is trying to guess what the overarching theme of the entire meal is going to be. You won’t know until the end,” Tyler continues to explain. Things are quick to take a turn, however, as the large and robotic kitchen crew and chef turn on their guests – guns are fired, fingers are cut off, and guests are hunted through the woods. “That’s what you’re paying for,” Fiennes’ chef quips. “It’s all a part of the menu.”

Succession’s Mark Mylod directs from a script by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy. Emma Stone was previously attached to star before Taylor-Joy took over the role.

The Menu releases in cinemas on November 18th. Watch the trailer below:
