We’ve known for a while that Disney were moving ahead with a redo of the classic JUNGLE BOOK, and the movie, to be a mixture of live-action and animated, has got quite the impressive vocal talent on board. Now comes word on who will play the one human character that will appear in the film, as unknown 10-year-old Neel Sethi (below) has been cast as Mowgli.

As part of an official statement, director Jon Favreau said, “Casting is the most important element of any film and finding the right kid to play Mowgli was imperative. Neel has tremendous talent and charisma. There is a lot riding on his little shoulders and I’m confident he can handle it.”

Young Sethi will be the sole human element of the film, whilst Scarlett Johansson will be providing the vocals for Kaa, Lupita Nyong’o for Rakcha, Ben Kingsley for Bagheera, and Idris Elba for Shere Khan.

THE JUNGLE BOOK is currently set for a 9th October, 2015 release.
