With Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY wowing audiences and exceeding expectations, it now seems one of the other oft-forgotten comic properties is being readied for the big screen.

THE INHUMANS movie has been mooted for a while, but this week, Groot himself, Vin Diesel posted a message on his Facebook page, “Vin and Marvel… you all made it happen! I get the strange feeling that Marvel thinks I’m Inhuman… Haha” (as seen below).

Now it seems the studio are ready to begin shopping an existing script by Joe Robert Cole around potential filmmakers.

The superhero group known as The Inhumans first appeared in 1965, in the pages of FANTASTIC FOUR #45 as test subjects of the alien race the Kree, created in their battle against the Skrulls. The resulting DNA-spliced mutants would go on to form their own society, blossoming as a race, and developing their own advanced technology. The current line-up consists of Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, Maximus the Mad and Lockjaw (a canine – no doubt ready to receive the Rocket Raccoon treatment). While Medusa and Crystal have been members of the Fantastic Four at one time, with Crystal also being an Avenger, they are all really obscure characters in the Marvel canon and, like the Guardians, could be a hard sell for the general cinema-going public. Nevertheless, we know how that last gamble paid off now, at least. Could lightning strike twice?

It’s expected THE INHUMANS movie will take one of the previously announced dates in the future wave of releases, although nothing is confirmed or locked as yet.
