Following the news earlier this year that James Cameron’s Avatar 2 wasn’t going to be released in December 2018 as originally planned, now all four Avatar sequels have been given new release dates.

Previously, the first Avatar sequel was booked in for December next year, with Avatar 3 for December 2020, Avatar 4 for December 2022, and Avatar 5 wrapping things up in December 2023.

As per a post on the official Avatar Facebook page, “Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels. The journey continues December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024 and December 19, 2025.”

Right, so that means we’ve got to wait 3 1/2 years for the first Avatar sequel, then staggered releases in 2021, 2024, and 2025. Still with us? We hope so.

So far, all four sequels are being worked on at the same time, and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver are all confirmed to be returning.
