It’s been hinted at and hoped for for a little while now, but finally it’s official: Supergirl and The Flash will be teaming together on the small screen.

There has previously been stories and speculation that CBS’ Supergirl could very well exist in the same world as The CW’s Green Arrow and The Flash, and now it’s confirmed to be happening… well as far as Kara Zor-El and Barry Allen are concerned. Oliver Queen, for now at least, won’t be meeting up with the Maid of Might just yet, though. Grant Gustin’s Scarlet Speedster, however, will be turning up in Supergirl during an episode set to air on March 28th in the US.

On the news, executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg said, “We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we started making Supergirl – The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up! We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally, thanks to the fans and journalist who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”

Previously, The CW’s shared universe of Arrow and The Flash have regularly crossed over with each other, and then there’s also the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow show that takes place in that world. Additionally, Matt Ryan’s John Constantine, who had previously headlined his own NBC show, has this season turned up to help out Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen over in Arrow.

The Melissa Benoist-starring Supergirl returns to UK screens on April 1st.
