With the first season of The Flash coming to a close in the US tonight, some details are coming out on what we can expect to see in Season 2.

The show’s Barry Allen, Grant Gustin, has seemingly confirmed to TV Guide that we’ll be seeing some form of multiverse in the next season.

Gustin revealed, “What’s fun about this show is that there’s going to be multiple timelines as we move forward. I think we’re going to start showing Earth-One and Earth-Two in the near future. There will be kind of different dimensions going on.”

Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon in the Scarlet Speedster show, added, “It gets a little Rubik’s Cube-y in terms of keeping consistency between all these timelines and whatnot, but the writers have their stuff together. If I were to trust anyone, it would be them.”

The basis concept of the multiverse is the idea that there are mutliple universes that are all the same but slightly different, spawning different events and different versions of certain people. It’s also a convenient way to shoehorn in certain ‘what if’ scenarios or even introduce other versions of The Flash if that’s deemed a route that the show would like to take.

As mentioned, the season finale airs tonight in the US, with the season coming to a close next Tuesday in the UK.
