THE FLASH made its impressive US debut this past week (find our review here), and now comes confirmation of two new additions and also the first look at one of the all-time great Flash villains appearing in the show.

First-up, The Hollywood Reporter has word that ALIAS’ Victor Garber (below) is to take on the recurring role of Dr. Martin Stein. Stein, along with Robbie Amell’s Ronnie Raymond, combine to become the hero Firestorm. Whilst Amell’s Raymond will debut imminently, Garber’s Stein will arrive in episode 12 of the show.

Next, TVLine is reporting that SMASH’s Andy Mientus (below) has been cast as another familiar DC character, Harley Rathaway, aka Pied Piper. Debuting in 1959, Rathaway was born deaf and quickly became obsessed with sound before realising that he could use it to hypnotise people. In bigger news, that character came out as openly gay in 1991 and decided to give up the life of crime. There’s no official word on just when Mientus ‘s Rathaway will appear in the ARROW spin-off show.

Now if those two new additions weren’t enough to get you excited, the below images should bring a smile to long-time Flash fans. After a yellow blur was seen seemingly killing Nora Allen in the pilot episode of THE FLASH, fans of the Scarlet Speedster instantly realised that they were seeing Professor Zoom, arguably The Flash’s most iconic villain. In the comic book world, Eobard Thawne is the time-travelling villain, often dubbed Reverse-Flash. In THE FLASH there is the conveniently-named Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett), who is expected to be revealed as the show’s Professor Zoom. As it happens, ScreenRant have managed to get hold of some (albeit hazy) pictures from the set of an upcoming episode, showing what seems to be Professor Zoom giving what seems to be The Flash one hell of a beating. If the actors don’t look too familiar, it’s highly likely that the guys in the picture are stuntmen for Cosnett and Grant Gustin.

THE FLASH makes its UK debut on Sky1 on October 28th.
