Unlikely sequel alert! Unlikely sequel alert! While the movie itself was wildly entertaining, the pitch-black comedy horror The Babysitter has hardly made much of an impact since it premiered on Netflix in October of 2017. Never heard of it? You’re not the only one.

Despite this, it’s been revealed today that the streaming platform has greenlit The Babysitter 2, and production is far enough along to have made it to the casting stage. Original director McG (Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle) is confirmed to return, but at the time of writing he’s the only one, with American Vandal‘s Dan Lagana taking over from Brian Duffield on script duties. Naturally, this also means we’re in the dark as to whether the film’s story will continue on from the original and see the wonderful Samara Weaving (Home and Away) reprising her role as the eponymous babysitter with a big bad secret, or her young charge, Cole, played by Judah Lewis (Summer of 84). Could this be going the anthology route instead? Possible, but we wouldn’t imagine that would be enough to entice McG back behind the megaphone…

It would do newcomers to the film a great disservice to go into detail regarding the plot of The Babysitter, but we do encourage you to seek it out if you’re one of the many fans of the increasingly in-demand Weaving (soon to be seen in the equally bloody looking Ready or Not), or you’re that one remaining fan of McG.
