In a small screen world that has featured SMALLVILLE, currently features ARROW, and will soon be featuring THE FLASH, GOTHAM and CONSTANTINE, it appears that the Teen Titans are the latest group of characters who will be adapted for a TV audience. Deadline is reporting Warner Brothers TV is developing a live-action pilot for a series titled TITANS, which is based on DC’s famed Teen Titans team. It’s said that the series is close to having a pilot ordered, with A BEAUTIFUL MIND’s Akiva Goldsman scripting along with Marc Haimes.

The report goes on to says, “The action series centres on Dick Grayson, who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others.”

For years, fans have been calling out to see Dick Grayson get some time in the sun, be it as Robin or as Nightwing. Whilst we’d have loved a straight-up Nightwing series, the fact that this show will focus on Grayson is all cool with us here at Starburst HQ. Additionally, as Batman is to be referenced, could this show exist in the same world as Warner Bros.’ cinematic DC world? Also, given how Bludhaven, the home of Nightwing, has been referenced a few times in ARROW already, could this show exist in the same world as the Emerald Archer and The Flash?

As for the Teen Titans team, this year marks their 50th anniversary, with the team first appearing way back in THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #54. Away from the revolving comic book roster, the team has also been the focus of their own animated series back in 2003 and then later in Cartoon Network’s YOUNG JUSTICE.

Expect to hear a lot more on this as it develops.
