In terms of reboots, remakes and redos, one of the ones that had our attention the most was TNT’s new take on the classic Tales From the Crypt series. Well, it looks as if that particular show is as dead as some of the characters at the core of its classic tales.

Bloody Disgusting broke the news on this, with one of their sources claiming that budget issues have caused some major problems for the Tales From the Crypt reboot, and it now looks most likely that the show will be canned completely before it even really gets going.

If you remember back, this new incarnation of a beloved favourite of many was to form part of a new “Horror Block” for the TNT network, with Time of Death and Creatures running alongside the Tales From the Crypt redo. There’s no word on whether all three shows have been pulled, or whether it’s just Tales From the Crypt that’s in hot water right now.

The plan was for M. Night Shyamalan to oversee a ten-episode new run of the anthology-driven, EC Comics-inspired Tales From the Crypt that would have brought new life to the infamous Crypt Keeper. The show was planned to debut at the end of 2017, although that now seems unlikely.

All of this is just an exclusive scoop from Bloody Disgusting at this stage, so we’ll have to wait to hear something more official. BD are usually extremely reliable with their news, though, which sadly means it appears unlikely that we’ll see the Crypt Keeper raise his head any time soon.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
