In some fantastic news, Don Mancini’s Child’s Play TV series has been given a straight-to-series order as Syfy.

Courtesy of Deadline, the show – titled Chucky – will be set in suburbia and will explore the murky past of the nefarious Charles Lee Ray. Not just that, but Child’s Play creator Don Mancini will be directing the show’s first episode and will serve as showrunner.

The early word on Chucky reads:

In the new Chucky television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies – and allies – form Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became the notorious monster.

As ever, expect more on Chucky as we get it.
