Given that Marvel’s TV and movie properties are intricately entwined together, it seemed only natural that DC would try the opposite. Given the joy of watching movie events discussed and dealt with in AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s a shame that DC doesn’t have the same level of excitement. That said, THE FLASH and ARROW do play wonderfully off one another… and look set to receive a little company.

A SUPERGIRL was recently announced for CBS, which seemed to be a further fragmentation of the already crowded DC TV circuit. Despite being aired on a separate network, Greg Berlanti, the producer superstar behind ARROW and sister show THE FLASH, is also producing SUPERGIRL.

There’s certainly the possibility of a crossover, although while nothing has been confirmed, a Berlanti profile in Entertainment Weekly revealed, “Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of SUPERGIRL. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it’s possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of ARROW and THE FLASH.”

Exciting, no? Treat this as speculation for now, but DC may just be onto a winning combination here.
