Following last week’s news that CBS’ Supergirl was in some trouble, the show has now been confirmed for a second season.

What’s interesting, though, is that the show will be moving from CBS to The CW. The CW, of course, is the home to fellow DC-based superhero shows Arrow, The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. It was previously reported that part of the problem over whether Supergirl would be renewed was down to the cost of producing an episode, which is reportedly close to the $3 million mark. CBS weren’t keen to pay that amount again, especially after ratings for the show were doing half of what they were for the well-received premiere, and so there was talk that the show may be canned all together or that it may at a push move to The CW. And noe, that move is something that is taking place.

It has to be said, Supergirl surprised many a naysayer (including many of us here at Moonbase Alpha) in how much fun it was for the most part. Sure, the show did seem to lose its way a little during parts of the second half of the season, but it was generally far better than many feared it would be. As for the Maid of Might herself, Melissa Benoist makes an absolutely fantastic Supergirl.

With the show now moving to The CW, that obviously opens up the door for Benoists’ Kara Zor-El to mingle on a regular basis with the likes of Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow, Grant Gustin’s The Flash, Brandon Routh’s The Atom, Caity Lotz’s White Canary, etc. Supergirl has already met Gustin’s Scarlet Speedster, though, for he turned up in a brilliant crossover episode of Supergirl earlier this year.
