The two comic book names in question are the villainous Red Tornado and the father of Lois and Lucy, General Sam Lane. Playing Red Tornado will be Salem’s Iddo Goldberg, with X-Men: First Class’ Glenn Morshower to play General Lane.
In terms of how these characters will be portrayed in Supergirl, the official description of Red Tornado reads, “Designed for the army by scientist T.O. Morrow, Red Tornado is the world’s most nefarious android who is capable of devastating National City. Once free from the US government’s grip, Red Tornado sets out on a path of destruction that only Supergirl will be able to stop.”
As for Sam Lane, he’s described as “A powerful lifer – and an overprotective father to both Lucy Lane and her sister, Lois. His arrival in National City stirs up trouble for Supergirl when he enlists her in a dangerous government initiative.”
Starring Melissa Benoist in the titular role, Supergirl is set to debut in the US on October 26th, with a UK home yet to be confirmed.
