Storm Reid (A Wrinkle In Time) has bagged the lead role The Nun 2, the sequel to the 2018 Conjuring Universe hit of the same name.

Michael Chaves will direct the film after helming The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, the most recent entry in New Line’s horror franchise, while Akela Cooper wrote the screenplay. Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing are currently revising the script, with franchise helmers James Wan and Peter Safran back to produce.

The Nun was itself a prequel spinoff from The Conjuring 2 and starred Bonnie Aarons as the titular demonic nun. Set in a monastery in 1952, the horror film saw a priest (Demian Bichir) and nun (Taissa Farmiga) attempt to fight the nun’s spirit. Unexpectedly, The Nun quickly became the highest-grossing instalment from The Conjuring Universe.

There is no news yet on who Storm Reid might be playing, but with filming commencing this October, expect more information soon. The young actress was recently seen in Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man, DC’s The Suicide Squad, and the HBO series Euphoria, and will next appear opposite Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in The Last Of Us.

The Nun 2 is set for release September 8th, 2023. THR broke the news of Storm Reid’s casting.
