Following yesterday’s news of Richard E. Grant joining James Mangold’s Wolverine 3, now comes word that Stephen Merchant has been added to the film.

Deadline is reporting that the comedian, best known for the likes of The Office and An Idiot Abroad amongst other things, has landed an unknown role in the final outing for Hugh Jackman’s Logan. As well as messrs Grant and Jackman on board, the film’s cast also features Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Boyd Holbrook as the villain of the piece. Additionally, X-23 is a character who will be appearing in some capacity.

Plot-wise, there’s still regular speculation that this final outing for Jackman’s Canucklehead will be loosely based on Mark Millar’s Old Man Logan arc. There’s also speculation, particularly following the success of Deadpool, that the film could end up being R-rated.

At present, Mangold’s Wolverine 3 is set for a March 3rd, 2017 release.
