STARGIRL Renewed for Second Season

Having impressed with its first few episodes, Stargirl has already been renewed for a second season.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, The CW has opted to renew the Geoff Johns-developed series centred on Brec Bassinger’s titular heroine. For this second year, Stargirl will be moving from the DC Universe streaming service to The CW, with episodes also still being available on HBO Max.

The 13-episodes debut season of Stargirl is due to conclude in North America on August 10, and the series has recently found a UK home.

For those unaware of Stargirl, the synopsis for the series reads:

Stargirl follows the story of Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger) who is a smart, athletic and above all else kind girl. This high school teenager’s seemingly perfect life hits a major speedbump when her mother gets married and her new family moves from Los Angeles, California to Blue Valley, Nebraska. Struggling to adapt to a new school, make new friends and deal with a new step-family, Courtney discovers her step-father has a secret; he used to be the sidekick to a superhero. “Borrowing” the long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.

For those of us in the UK, Stargirl will hit Amazon Prime on August 21.
