The STARBURST International Film Festival is getting even bigger as the event draws nearer, as we’re pleased to announce the final batch of independent movies that will be screened over the August Bank Holiday weekend in Manchester.

Joining an already stellar line-up are the UK Premiere of James Bickert’s ode to the Grindhouse, Frankenstein Created Bikers. Starring Laurence R. Harvey (who will be in attendance for the weekend) and Tristan Risk, it’s the follow-up to the equally demented Dear God No! and is a glorious love letter to exploitation cinema. Also added to the festival bill is the full version of the fantastic British web series Horizon, directed by Paul Dudbridge and featuring spectacular effects, plus four new short films:

Broadcast Signal Intrusion stars the legendary David Bradley (Game of Thrones, The Strain) and is a stunning tale of nightmares, obsession, loss, and video tape. Directed by Phil Drinkwater.
Zombie Playground: Ice Scream is directed by Jason Wright and stars Jon Campling (Harry Potter) and features undead children – the perfect nightmare combination!
Have You Seen Sarah? Written and directed by newcomer Chadwick Kirby, it focuses on a book that holds a curse and the consequences of reading it.
Peace Love Unity Revolution is the third chapter of the PLURmovie series but works as a standalone piece. Written and directed by Marcus Kempton, this is an action short set to the beat of pounding trance music.

These films and shorts join a line-up that is already bursting with great movies. Not only will there be the World Premiere of Good Tidings and Don’t You Recognise Me?, there’s the UK Premiere of Jessica Cameron’s Mania and erotic vampire homage Blood of the Tribades alongside such industry legends as Virginia Hey (Mad Max 2, Farscape), John Glen (James Bond director), and Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Naylor. The full list of attending guests is at starburstfilmfest.co.uk.

The STARBURST Film Festival takes place at Manchester’s MMU Student Union Complex on August 26th-28th and is packed with great screenings, guests, and special events. Find out more and book tickets at the festival website.
