Variety is reporting that Diego Luna has joined Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars: Rogue One.

Luna will play a lead role in the film, with it believed that he’ll be a rebel fighter at the centre of the story. He joins a cast that currently includes Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed and Ben Mendelsohn. The exact roles are unknown for Jones and Ahmed, although Mendelsohn will be the ‘big bad’ of the picture.

Rogue One will be the first of three planned Star Wars Anthology movies. The plot details that are known at this stage is that the film will revolve around the stealing of the Death Star plans by a group of rebels.

Star Wars: Rogue One is due to start shooting later this year ahead of a December 16th, 2016 release.
