Thanks to the success of CBS’ Star trek: Discovery, there are plans afoot for plenty more small-screen Star Trek action. And now, there’s a big update on one such spin-off series.
Via ComicBook.com, it’s now been officially announced that Michelle Yeoh’s Philippa Georgiou will be getting her own show. Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt will be writing the effort, which has yet to have its title confirmed just yet.
In Discovery, Yeoh’s Philippa was the mentor of Sonequa Martin-Green’s Michael Burnham. Unfortunately, Philippa was killed off… although audiences were shown that her mirror universe counterpart was alive and well, serving as the Emperor. Having left the mirror realm, the character eventually became a member of Section 31, defending the Federation against any and all threats.
On this news, executive producer Alex Kurtzman enthused, “Michelle has shattered ceilings, broken boundaries, and astonished us with her grace and gravitas for decades. As a human, I adore her. As an actor, I revere her. Erika and Boey are remarkable, exciting writers who bring a fresh perspective to the world of Star Trek, and we’re all thrilled to explore the next wild chapter in the life of Captain Philippa Georgiou.”
Expect more on all of this as we get it.
