In some news that will get STARBURST readers a little giddy, it’s been revealed that the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond will debut before showings of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, with reports also claiming that The Force Awakens could include trailers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Independence Day: Resurgence, X-Men: Apocalypse and Captain America: Civil War. It should certainly provide a great overall viewing experience if the above trailers do end up joining Star Trek Beyond as part of the previews before Episode VII.

Of course, The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams helmed the previous two installments in the relaunched Star Trek franchise and his Bad Robot company is producing Star Trek Beyond. This new Star Trek movie will feature the returning Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, and John Cho, with roles for Sofia Boutella, Joe Taslim and then featuring Idris Elba as the film’s ‘big bad’. Justin Lin has taken over directing duties for this next installment in the series.

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens hits cinemas on December 17th, with Star Trek Beyond currently set for a July 22nd, 2016 release.
