Trekkies and board game geeks are anticipating Gale Force Nine’s Star Trek: Ascendancy, a strategic board game that lets players simulate the history of the Federation and the Star Trek universe

Gale Force Nine are well known for their atmospheric and high quality tie-in games, which include Spartacus: Blood and Sand and Firefly.

In Star Trek Ascendancy, each player will take control of one of the great civilizations of the galaxy, such as the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, and the Romulan Star Empire. Each faction will explore the galaxy, boldly going forward.

Control starships, build starbases, establish routes and discovers strange new thing and gather resources. You also get to choose if you want to dominate the galaxy via diplomacy or war. Star systems are randomised thanks to some clever games mechanics and components.

The game includes more than 200 plastic miniatures and has discs representing more than 30 star systems.

The Cardassian Union and Ferengi Alliance will be available as expansion sets later in the year. This game looks fantastic, and Gale Force Nine always seem to make a game feel like the show; for example, their Firefly game tends to end abruptly and leaving you wanting more.
