Fire up your Eagle transporters, Gerry Anderson fans… it’s nearly time to party like it’s (SPACE) 1999…

It’s been a long wait – the first season has been available since 2010 – but season two of Gerry Anderson’s fondly-remembered 1970s science-fiction saga SPACE: 1999 is on its way to Blu-ray at last, courtesy of Network Distributing. But whilst fans will have to wait until Autumn 2015 for the release of the entire series, their appetites will be whetted by December’s special digipack release of teaser Blu-ray SPACE: 1999 – THE BRINGERS OF WONDER, which will feature two key episodes from the second season and a brand new HD transfer of the compilation film DESTINATION: MOONBASE ALPHA. In THE BRINGERS OF WONDER, a Superswift spaceship arrives, crewed by friends and relatives of the Moonbase Alpha space castaways, and it looks as if rescue is finally within the Alphans’ grasp. Only one man – Commander John Koenig (Martin Landau) – sees the visitors for what they really are: hideous jelloid creatures who thrive on radiation. With the rest of Alpha under the aliens’ spell, Koenig must prevent them from completing their mission to detonate the moon’s nuclear dumps.

SPACE: 1999 – THE BRINGERS OF WONDER will be available exclusively from networkonair.com from December 8th and will be limited to… yep, you guessed it… 1,999 copies! Customers who order the teaser Blu-ray prior to its release will be entered into a draw to win one of three sets of the second season when it’s released next year.
