It seems like an age ago now – 2 years, actually - that Sony Pictures announced a partnership with Valiant Entertainment to develop a cinematic shared universe based around some of the comic publisher’s famed characters. Well now finally comes a solid update on the first project that was announced: Bloodshot.
The last we’d heard on Bloodshot was that John Wick’s pair of David Leitch and Chad Stahelski would be directing, although that’s all changed over the past 18 months or so. As the pair became more in demand, they’ve actually split as directing partners, with Stahelski solely helming John Wick: Chapter 2 and also attached to the Highlander reboot. Where Leitch is concerned, he’s been given the task of directing the hotly-anticipated Deadpool 2.
Now, though, comes word (via Bleeding Cool) that David Wilson has been signed on to direct Bloodshot. Whilst this will mark Wilson’s first time helming a feature film, he’s previously worked alongside Deadpool’s Tim Miller on the likes of Halo 2, BioShock Infinite and Mass Effect 2.
Bloodshot is the story of an ex-soldier resurrected from the grave and brought back to life with a body full of nanobots and various technologies. Created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton, the central character has the ability to shapeshift, easily heal, and interact with other technology.
The cinematic Bloodshot already has a screenplay in place from Arrival’s Eric Heisserer, who has also penned another Sony/Valiant adaptation, Harbinger. The current word is that both Bloodshot and Harbinger will have two films apiece before crossing both franchises over for a Harbinger War movie.SHARE YOUR COMMENTS BELOW OR ON TWITTER @STARBURST_MAG
