If you’re a regular reader of either our website or our magazine (latest zombie-filled issue now available), you’ll know we love us a good shark film. Hell, we even love us a bad shark film a lot of the time. And it appears that a new shark tale is in the mix over at Sony Pictures.

Deadline is reporting that Sony has recently secured the script for IN THE DEEP, a movie described as 127 HOURS meets JAWS. Tony Jaswinski, best known for penning TV movies like BACKWOODS and XTRA CREDIT, has written the screenplay, with the central plot focusing on a woman in her 20s facing off against a great white shark. Set on a remote beach, the female is having a casual surf 60 feet from shore when she realises that there’s a shark in the water below her.

At this stage, Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem are attached to produce, with Sony Pictures reportedly keen to get the film moving along sooner rather than later.
