Sony Pictures are brewing a special flavour of broth that may throw female superheroes into the universe of their AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. With the unforeseen financial success of Scarlett Johansson-vehicle LUCY, the company have set their sights on a similar angle that will hopefully erase the heartache of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.
Basically, the avalanche of superhero movies committed to the silver-screen these days are all missing one thing; a leading female character, so it's currently a job for the suits at companies like Sony to create money-harvesting solutions. Co-creator and executive producer of HBO's upcoming WESTWORLD adaptation, Lisa Joy, has been hired to scribble down this exciting yet drastically-rare female centred narrative. I think it's fair to say we're more than ready for a slice of Spider-Woman or Black Cat!
In 4 years time Sony hopes to release THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3, but our future-moulding talents predict a new female arrival before that. So stay tuned.
