Spider-Man stories – you wait for one then two come along at once.

With today’s earlier report of the five candidates currently being looked at to play the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man, now comes word that Sony Pictures is developing an animated Spidey film.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the directors of THE LEGO MOVIE, 21 JUMP STREET, 22 JUMP STREET and CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS, are writing and overseeing the project. It’s said that this animated Wallcrawler will not be tied to the MCU one and will exist independently of any live-action Spider-Man.

No further details are known at this stage, but expect more on this as it develops.
