With a fifth Indiana Jones movie long confirmed, now comes word on who’ll be tasked with penning the return of Harrison Ford’s Dr Henry Walton Jones, Jr.

As per Collider, it looks as if Jonathan Kasdan has been given the nod to write Indy 5. Where genre fans are concerned, Kasdan is likely best known for writing Solo: A Star Wars Story with his father, Lawrence. This movie also sees him follow in the footsteps of his pops, with Kasdan Sr having written the screenplay for Steven Spielberg’s Raiders of the Last Ark, not to mention reportedly doing an uncredited script polish on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

What’s also interesting about this is that longtime Spielberg cohort David Koepp won’t be on writing duties, with him previously seen as nailed-on for Indiana Jones 5. In fact, Koepp had actually begun to put the tale together before now being replaced by Jonathan Kasdan.

Right now, current speculation from Birth.Movies.Death has the Fountain of Youth as the centre-piece of this latest Indy picture. Given how we’ve been regularly told how this will definitely, definitely, definitely be Harrison Ford’s latest outing in this most iconic of cinematic roles, the Fountain of Youth could certainly be a convenient plot device – particularly with Disney’s Bob Iger publicly stating that the franchise will carry on past Indiana Jones 5.

Previously, Indy 5 was booked in for a July 2020 release, although that release date now looks completely unrealistic given how there’s still a whole lot more to work out on the picture before production can even think about beginning.
