Today brings word that the cast of the upcoming STAR TREK 3 has grown by one. Deadline is reporting that Sofia Boutella, most recently seen in KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, is joining the third of the relaunched STAR TREK series.
The Algerian actress joins a cast that currently includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and Simon Pegg. There’s also some heavy rumours that Idris Elba is in talks to play the film’s villain.
To be directed by Justin Lin, from a script by Doug Jung and Simon Pegg, STAR TREK 3 is currently set for a July 8th, 2016 release, which coincides with the franchise’s 50th anniversary.
