A teaser image, courtesy of Boom! Studios, has surfaced for an upcoming comic series based on John Carpenter’s 1981 cult classic, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. The film, starring Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken was a huge hit, cementing itself as one of Carpenter’s finest works.

Following the success of the studio’s adaptation of BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, spearheaded by Eric Powell (THE GOON creator), Boom! are set to tackle Snake, a character so well suited to the comic world it’s a wonder he hasn’t had a monthly series since ‘81. Of course, Snake has appeared in Marvel’s THE ADVENTURES OF SNAKE PLISSKEN and in Carpenter’s own SNAKE PLISSKEN CHRONICLES.

Official details are expected to be released at San Diego’s Comic-Con.
