With seemingly hundreds of names in the equation previously, it appears that Disney and Lucasfilm’s search for a young Han Solo is now down to just five candidates.

The Hollywood Reporter and Variety have word that the shortlist for the young Han gig is now made up of Kingsman’s Taron Egerton, Unbroken’s Jack O’Connell, Transformers: Age of Extinction’s Jack Reynor, Hail, Caesar!’s Alden Ehrenreich, and Everybody Wants Some’s Blake Jenner.

Whoever lands the role will then headline the upcoming Solo-focussed Star Wars Story effort from The LEGO Movie’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller, which has already been penned by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. That film will be the second Star Wars Story movie to arrive, with Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story set to hit cinemas this December.

At present, the Han Solo-centric movie is penciled in for a May 2018 release, with the tale looking at how Han Solo came to be the loveable rogue we first met in Mos Eisley back in 1977. And yes, Chewie will also be along for the ride.
