Towards the end of last year, we reported that literally hundreds of names were under consideration to play the young Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars Anthology movie, and now it appears that the role is down to twelve names.

The LEGO Movie’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller are on board to direct the Han-focussed Anthology film, and Variety now reports that the names in the frame to play Solo are The Longest Ride’s Scott Eastwood, Brooklyn’s Emory Cohen, 21 Jump Street’s Dave Franco, The Fault in Our Stars’ Ansel Elgort, Everybody Wants Some’s Blake Jenner, Fury’s Logan Lerman, Transformers: Age of Extinction’s Jack Reynor and Whiplash’s Miles Teller. As well as these eight names, it’s said that there are another four names under consideration, although details on those actors are being kept under wraps at the moment.

Whoever takes on the gig, it’s certainly a big ask to take on one of the most iconic and legendary roles in cinema history. As for the film itself, it will be set roughly 10 years before we meet Han Solo in 1977’s Star Wars (or A New Hope, for you young ‘uns out there).

At present, the currently-untitled Solo movie is set for a May 25th, 2018 release.
