With a sequel to this year’s hugely successful Deadpool announced near-enough as soon as the credits rolled on the Ryan Reynolds-starrer, now comes some news on one of the sequel’s new additions: Domino.

According to Collider, the names currently in the frame to play this badass mutant merc are Halt and Catch Fire’s MacKenzie Davies, Cloverfield’s Lizzy Caplan, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’s Sienna Miller, Star Trek Beyond’s Soufia Boutella, SPECTRE’s Stephanie Sigman, and Sylvia Hooks, who’s most recently been signed up for Blade Runner 2049.

As for the character of Domino, aka Neena Thurman, she was created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, debuting ‘proper’ in 1992’s X-Force #11 following ‘sort of’ appearances in 1991’s New Mutants #98 and 1992’s X-Force #8. A product of a government breeding scheme, Domino is one of the best assassins and marks(wo)men in the Marvel comic book world, with her also having some telekinetic abilities. Additionally, as well as being a longtime member of the X-Force team, she’s been a love interest of one of Deadpool’s longest suffering partners-in-crime, Cable… who is another character confirmed for Deadpool 2.

Where this upcoming sequel is concerned, Ryan Reynolds will be back as the Marc with a Mouth, whilst Deadpool’s writing team of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are currently working on the film’s screenplay, with Tim Miller again returning to direct.

From a budget of just $58 million, Deadpool took home a whopping $784 million worldwide, marking it as one of the most successful movies of the year, proving that you don’t always need to throw a $250 million budget at a superhero movie – *cough* Batman v Superman *cough* – to deliver something memorable and special.
